Simrun and Amprit moved slowly through Black Park's older paths, where the trees do most of the work for you. There's a particular kind of quiet inside a forest — not silence exactly, but a softness that absorbs everything. The frames came out of that softness rather than against it.
Forest light is patient. It doesn't sweep across the frame the way open light does — it sits, drops through the canopy in pieces, lets you wait for it. Simrun and Amprit gave it the time it needed.
The best sessions aren't directed — they're released. My job is to create the conditions where you stop thinking about the camera. Everything after that is real.
