Reena & Ujas

A late afternoon session inside the ruined walls of St Dunstan in the East — a medieval church reclaimed by ivy, fig trees, and a quiet garden. The shoot moves through stone arches and overgrown corners, composed and unhurried in a place where the city quietly disappears.

Old stone, new green —
a quiet hour inside the city.

Reena and Ujas met me in the late afternoon, when the light starts coming sideways through the arches. They moved through the gardens at the pace the place wanted — slow, unhurried, no rush to find the obvious frame. The light did the rest.

There aren't many places in London where you can hear birdsong instead of traffic. By the time we'd worked through the gardens and the upper arches, Reena and Ujas had stopped checking the camera entirely. The shoot was already happening on its own.

The best sessions aren't directed — they're released. My job is to create the conditions where you stop thinking about the camera. Everything after that is real.
